Info session, schminfo session…

UPDATE: dudes and dudettes.  The washing machine that is life has me on a crazy spin cycle right now.  Am postponing the proposed Sunday 23rd March info session until my basement reno is finished.  This really is for sanities sake!  Excited about the fact that so many of you are looking like you’ll be able to make this bash… it’s going to be amazeballs!! xx

Nearly a third of the way through the year already…

How did it get so late so soon? It’s night before it’s afternoon. December is here before it’s June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon?

Just as we knew it would, 2014 is whizzing past at the speed of light.  TassiePalooza will be here before we know it!

With full appreciation of the level of undertaking this wee adventure will require, I’m planning on having a little information session combined with a couple of bevies for those of you who want to pick my brains about the hows, whats, wheres and whens of this event [great idea Anni, thanks].  Looking at the calendar, I reckon a Sunday session on 23rd March might be a good date so let me know who will be around for that (probably in Boulder for this first one).   I appreciate this would be a bit of a commute for non-Coloradans so please know you can call or email me anytime if you want or need to know any more details than are included in this blog.

If you’re going to be making a reservation with frequent flyer points, you’ll want to do that soon to guarantee a seat.  If you’re booking a regular fare, I recommend starting to look into it as early as possible as flying late-December and returning mid-January can mean higher-than-normal flight prices.  Couple of tips from someone who does this every year: if you’re prepared to fly on an actual holiday day you can often save money; if you have any close mates who work for airlines, see if you get on to whatever “buddy” program they offer for discounted tickets (I flew a round trip for less than $900 on one of these schemes once); and beyond the usual Expedia / Kayak route, it’s sometimes worth going to direct to carrier sites like Virgin Australia (the VERY best in my humble opinion) to see if they’ve got specials going on.

This will not be the least expensive holiday you ever take, but it will be a once in a lifetime experience.  And I’ve gotta say, even on reflection I think the proposed schedule will stand exactly as it is – it’s going to be a cracker!
